The Next Steps
When your gown arrives, you will be contacted by Tania to arrange for you to come in and try on your gown for the first time. In general this is not a pin and fit appointment and will not necessarily be booked with our seamstress unless requested at the time. Your appointment usually lasts around 30-60 minutes depending on if you would like us to help you accessories your gown with a tiara, veil, jewellery and shoes.
Your first pin and fit appointment is generally 12 weeks before your wedding with your second being arranged around mid way. There is often a final check fitting just before the wedding too.
At your final collection appointment, we will show one of the wedding party how to assist you into your dress, so try to plan this with whom you have chosen to help you get into your gown on the day.
It is also a good idea to keep guest numbers to a minimum at all fittings to ensure that the dressmakers can concentrate on you and be able to discuss important details on how you wish your gown to fit.
We respectfully ask that you arrive on time. It’s tricky if you’re late as you will run into another bride’s appointment.
Preparing for your fitting Appointment
You will need to bring your wedding shoes and your bra to the first and all subsequent fittings. Many designers corset their gowns so you may not need to wear a bra at all. If you are not sure if you need to wear a bra, discuss this with Kate and she will be able to advise you personally, as every bride’s figure and requirements are individual.
If you have a close fitting gown it’s a good idea to bring your undies with you to check if they can been seen. Nude underwear without texture or embellishment is best, it’s not sexy but will minimise being seen.
We ask that you be sparing with make-up on fitting days and please, no fake tan. You don’t want to run the risk of getting your gown dirty before your your big day.

Estimate for Alterations
Kate is a professional dressmaker who will explain what needs to be done to make your gown a perfect fit. She will give you an estimated cost for the work at each stage. Please do not hesitate to ask at any of your appointments how much the estimated alterations will be, in our experience, it is much better to have an understanding of the cost of the skilled work carried out than have an invoice at the time of picking up your gown that you were not expecting.
